Golden Gourmet Mushrooms, Inc. is continuing to expand and diversify its operation with the production of nutraceutical and functional food mushroom products. Utilizing proprietary SSF (Solid State Fermentation) technologies to produce mycelial biomass, we are now culturing Reishi, Agaricus blazei, Antrodia, Lion's Mane, Maitake, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps, Pleurotus, Hypsizgus and other medicinally active species. We also offer dehydrated fruit body powders and blends.

Our SSF production process involves the cultivation of pure cultures of medicinal species on organic whole oats and “harvesting” the mushroom mycelia before it has had a chance to organize itself into a mushroom “fruit body”; the fleshy, above-ground portion of the mushroom “plant” that people are accustomed to consuming. Both the fruit body and the mycelium of the fungus (mushroom) contain medicinally active compounds. There is generally a difference in both the types of medicinal compounds and also the concentrations of these compounds contained in the fruit body and in the mycelia of any given medicinal mushroom species. Although there is controversy over the relative health benefits of fruit body vs. mycelia, many scientists and health practitioners believe that the mycelia of the mushroom potentially has the most powerful medicine.
Mycelia is the extensively branched and interconnected network of fungal threadlike cells that pervasively extends into its surroundings. It is estimated that a single cubic inch of healthy topsoil may contain over 8 miles of mycelium if the fungal cells were positioned end-to-end. These amazing structures are only one cell thick and are in direct contact with their environment and a myriad of competing and/or attacking organisms including viruses, bacteria, protozoa, nematodes and insects. The evolutionary strategy of fungal mycelium has been to synthesize an awesome array of defensive, biologically-active compounds for protection in hostile, competitive environments. Many of these defensive compounds are medicinally active in humans. The antibiotics Penicillin, Tetracycline, Erthromycin and Cephalosporin are all examples of a fungal defensive compounds that man has found to be extremely useful. Another source of medicinally active compounds comes from the powerful acids and enzymes that the mycelial cells exude into their surroundings to externally digest food sources (organic matter) so the nutrients can be absorbed by the fungal cells.
Our newly equipped medicinal mushroom processing facility includes a pharmaceutical-grade bulk dehydrator, a stainless-steel grinder/disintegrator, stainless-steel extraction equipment for cold/hot water and alcohol extractions, and blending/homogenizing equipment.
All Nutraceutical Mushroom Powders are certified organic by Quality Assurance International.
